Mr. Yasuhiko Taniwaki joined the Ministry of Internal Affairs &
Communications (MIC) in 1984. After serving as Deputy Director-General
of the Information and Communications Bureau, Mr. Taniwaki was
appointed as Deputy Director-General for the National Center of Incident
Readiness and Strategy for Cybersecurity (NISC) & Councilor for the
Cabinet Secretariat from June 2013, during this period he played a
leading role in enacting the Basic Act on Cybersecurity and promoted
cybersecurity policies in line with the government’s cybersecurity
strategy. Since serving as Director - General of the Global ICT Strategy
Bureau and as Director-General for Information Security, he has been in his
current position since July 2018.
